The one time destination for gold-hungry 49ers, south Auburn's American River Canyon is now being discovered all over again with the opening of the Canyon Rim custom home site community.

The development captures the vistas of the canyon with 23 home sites from half to 2.3 acres in size, and with prices from $275,000 to $675,000. Several of the home sites feature bird's-eye views of the white waters of the American River.

The developer made certain that the stewardship of more than 100 pristine acres, including the American River, was dedicated to the Placer Land Trust preserve in perpetuity.
